There is a famous line that goes something like the burglar is always a step ahead than those inventing armed doors. Law seems to be in that armed door merchant position (again I must say). Everybody knew someone somewhere is developing, improving, just playing with AI. Data has been gathered and harvested openly and fully. AI is now publicly available and some advertise the pros and others cry for the cons. We all seem to agree that some regulation is needed. EU is currently drafting or discussing the AI Act (other jurisdictions are still pondering). Really? Still drafting and discussing? So we saw the burglar approaching – stayed still. We let him open the door. We are now managing the loss and we are thinking of (just thinking of!) buying an armed door. Well done humans and law practitioners. Or is this some sort of trick? Like the armed door merchant who is actually happy the burglar is one step ahead as they know they can sell the upgraded model to the same people who bought the prototype. Please help me make sense of this one too…
