Woman’s day

Having a day to celebrate women is a failure in itself. Being a woman is not an issue. To some is arguably a choice but to most is not. It’s simply who they are. Born a woman. There is nothing to celebrate, nothing to worry about. There is no issue to be resolved. There is nothing to do. Humans are born like that.

Being a woman means nothing more than being born under one of the two most probable options for our species. There is no expectation or role set to that. A person born with a womb can be whatever they like, do whatever they like, use that womb or not and by all means and purposes walk in life as they please and to meet their destiny.

What is there to mark? What is to celebrate? The moment we mark the obvious, the natural, the normal, it just becomes less normal.

Surely, women have been suppressed. Forced to marry, sold off as slaves, raped, fell victims of trafficking, underpaid for same work offered, excluded from clubs, professions and industries. Most likely as this post is written a woman is raped and another when you will each read this.

BUT she is not raped because she is a woman! She is raped because some man is not well in his brain. Women are not underpaid because they are women. They are underpaid by those biased against them. They are the problem. Not the women.

There is no celebration for women. Quite the opposite. There should be dark worry, alarming concern for those who tend to suppress others. Actions, cures and support to them. Not pink posts on social media. There is nothing pink to women. Some actually hate the color.

We should not be focusing on defining women. It is not about remodelling a woman from a sex bimbo, or a sweet face or a cunt or a mother or a slave or a wify to something else. Who will do the remodelling for whom? Under what authority? And why model in the first place?

There is the infamous America Ferrara monologue in Barbie many women resonated with. OK, but that monologue is a replica of the stereotype forced upon women. It starts stating it is impossible to be a woman. For the love of Lord is not. It is the easiest thing. Born. Breath. Carry on.

Swallowing the expectations set for women is the worse thing women can do to themselves. Complaining about household: why take on the household in the first place? In a modern era ladies, let the house rot. If you can outsource the chords, do it. If you work in science please come up with an intelligent robot that can clean the windows and wipe the floor. Take control of your destiny, assuming nothing about women. There is no maternity leave. Men become parents too. It’s most likely men want to go to work straight after their child is born cause it’s a comfort zone. It’s easier to delegate that creature to someone else and hide the anxiety that comes with it under the absence of parental leave. The white dominant A males out there who can lead countries to wars, cannot successfully claim a few weeks off work??

Don’t believe in narratives ladies. This was the predicament in the first place. There is no set narrative. You were born. That is all that happened to you. Breath. Carry on.

Whomever set today as the celebration date is not really doing you any good. There is no celebration. Only a perpetual victimization. Resist it. Don’t play with it and help me make sense of this one too…
