Valentine’s Day. A day to celebrate love. Have not seen another day been hated so much though. It has caused polarisation between singles and coupled up. Has been hated to distortion and now called Galentine’s day. People are vocal and passionate about NOT celebrating it. Has been called a marketing trick and nothing more. Honestly, has led to some stress and arguments even among those who were planning to celebrate it.
Why has a day about love failed so much to be loving?
Are we afraid of love so much that we sabotage it like that? Is connection nothing more than an expectation of a card and a box of chocolates? Is it normal that so much disappointment is attached to day that celebrates happiness? Is it normal that we celebrate happiness in busy restaurants, packed like sardines in a tin and served by exhausted waiters?
I don’t celebrate Valentine’s personally, for many years now. Have I failed to see the love in it or have we all failed to celebrate love with love? Please help me make sense of this one too…
