Baby happiness

You know most babies are calm and happy. Maybe not all the time but if fed, dry and hugged they are carefree. They are smiley and cute and just curious about the world around them without making a big fuss. They slide into the world, claiming their piece and spreading joy.

They are contaminating. Doors open for them literally. I took a baby to a five star hotel in an ultra busy metropolis packed with tourists cause I needed somewhere clean enough to change her (yes there are lower standards that could meet a baby’s needs but this is the first option I had so why not). Every single person at the hotel, who would have normally come up with a million blocks and excuses had it been me asking for the loo, they just wanted a little smile back from the cutie and would anything for her.

These babies also turn people into their best. They come across the biggest of jerks and with just a little smile all the fear and the insecurity melts away from the adult. They just want to sit there and play. Touch that little foot or be worthy of that gorgeous smile.

The babies are also very generous with their traits. They will assume that someone is worth smiling at. They assume the world is a large playground for them to explore. And that is what the turn the world into.

I shared these thoughts with a friend recently. She said the most inspiring and amazing thing in response: some adults live their lives like that. I am not that adult, she is not either, but imagine if we all were. Please help me make sense of this one too.
