Happy new year!

It’s a new year. A new moth. A new week even. Cool. It’s a new week every week but we do not celebrate cracking champagnes open. But should we?

Time is a funny conception. We did not create time and we have trouble comprehending it fully. So, as with all things humans don’t fully comprehend, we just try and control: we created this convention of days, months, years with strict rules no one would even dare to doubt or upset now. And we stick with them. Religiously. We are bound by our own creations now. We limit ourselves by choice without realizing the choice we make.

We need the solace of some control over the chaos of the universe. Which only seems chaotic to us by the way, more advanced species could be less afraid of it. And in fact by more advanced, I bet you thought I mean alien and extraterrestrial. But no, how about the dogs and cats and birds and every other creature on our planet who does not resort to some intellectual control over the unknown and just accepts it for what it is. They all don’t celebrate new year today but then are they better off after all?

Think about that. Accepting time for what it is. Accepting it will pass. Accepting zero control over it. And then waking up when the body feels like it and completely oblivious of what time it is (since it’s not really) focusing on what matters for the next moment. Maybe then, that goodmorning kiss is more needed, more appreciated, better deserved and much more cherished.

Have a great year everyone and by that I mean let’s enjoy our time on Earth!
